No you don't got me! It's not my price error!

Within this week, I have gotten two price errors at two different locations.
- One being at a bakery. I purchased 6 pastry items and was charged for 7. I knew my total was off but you won't be able to tell until you get the receipt. I looked over my receipt immediately after and asked the cashier, how many items do I have? He goes 6, oh I'm sorry. Do you want another pastry item or your money back.
Like really? I bought how many I wanted, so why would I want another. Is this some sort of strategy on their behalf.
- One being at the market which I frequently visit multiple times a week, Whole Foods. The bakery bread I purchase often costs $1.99 each. Today, he rung it up saying it's $4.99 - I retold him the name of the bread and he said yeah it's $4.99. I said no, it's $1.99 go look for yourself. He goes okay, I got you - I'll charge you $1.99 only.
No - you don't got me. I've bought this bread many times, go check the price because you're overcharging people by $3.
This is why I check my receipt.

That's some serious overcharging - and yah, he don't "got" you!
One time I had the worst overcharge ever, but the cashier caught it before I even noticed. I got a pie that was supposed to be on sale for like 2.99 and it rung up something crazy like 52.00
! But I think I would have realized it when he gave me my total! Yep, gotta check those receipts!4 people like this

@much2say
He totally does not 'got' me.
I recall you telling me that story and that is ridiculous to be over charged that amount! I sure hope people will notice that if they got a $52 overcharge!
And you know what my Whole Food's new policy is? No returns without receipts YET, they ask people do you want a receipt? I only returned once in my life but that was san daniele prosciutto that was bad& paying like $30 bucks a pound. I sure will get my money back!

Our system changes the price for items that have "street dates" when they can be released to something absolutely ridiculous. So we'll occasionally have someone goof and put something out on the floor before it's supposed to be out, only to have it ring up at like $10k at the register...
That's a fun one to explain.

Whole Foods is REALLY bad about overcharging customers from what I've read. I'd complain to the state department of weights and measures if it was a consistent issue.

I am a regular there and I don't want to cause any trouble, but honestly some of the newer employees, I swear they do not weigh correctly or deduct the packaging!
I let it slide twice already, but if it happens I am going to ask them to weigh it slowly.

@owlandbutterfly Oh yes, but I don't want me known as the one who is so up tight about the money however, WholeFoods is already expensive in general! And to overcharge by that much or lack of employees words is disappointing. I will definitely speak up next time.

@infatuatedbby As long as you're not going in and throwing a literal tantrum in the store, it shouldn't be considered causing trouble. You can bring it to management's attention, too. That's a training issue, and good managers will be willing to coach their employees to make sure that their customers are being charged the correct prices... and that their employees respond appropriately when they aren't, rather than saying "I've got you this time." Too much of that when it's not a legitimate issue causes shrink issues for a store.

Some cashiers overcharge, some undercharge. They need to aim for accuracy!

It is always good to check our receipts. I had experienced that many times, especially in supermarkets. This should not be happening because they already have those scanners (some stores here still compute and input manually) but then, errors still happen so better check the receipts before leaving.
I remember one time when the cashier put 4 x a can of biscuits which costs about $6.65 each when we only bought 1. We were already on our way home at that time and we had to go back. We were overcharged by $20.

It is horrible, they do not value customers and double check. They just rush and hurry up and make us pay. It is best to check out receipts before leaving. Imagine how many people are overcharged and not noticed?

You always have to watch your receipts. So many times I have been overcharged. One of the grocery stores here will give the item to you free it is scans wrong so I keep a close eye on the prices. I have gotten many free items that way.

Yes! I believe our local Vons does that too as well as department store Macys! I will keep telling my dad, but he keeps forgetting and just gets a price difference.

My dad always checks his receipt, and if he's overcharged, he'll go back and get his money before existing the store. I hope people are honest , but it is more of the employees needing to aim for accuracy as mistakes do happen.

I think from now on also, I will check te receipts of my grocery purchases.
I only get to check those from the Department store sometimes.
Good thing, you checked the receipt.
Or else , you could have not noticed it, though if you know more or less how much you will be paying and noticed it higher that what you calculated it to be, you will know at once that there is some mislabeling by the cashier as to the price.

I'm not entirely too sure! Mistakes do happen, but don't they double check or hear the noise when scanning?

I told him to go check the price because its and error. I'll know next time if he had bought it up. If not I will go tell the manager on duty that is wrong to charge customers and myself an incorrect price.

At the bakery, yes.
At the market, no. He said he 'got' me and will me the cost of $1.99. I told him, no. You don't got me, it is $1.99, go check yourself. It is a small bakery bread, he needs to have some common sense as well.

Yes, accidents happen! But they should be more careful and accurate. They are in a rush. I have been overcharged many times just decided to do a discussion as it happened to me twice in a row already at different locations.

Yes it is so annoying, they need to invent something that counts how many items goes on the belt and how many items counted for on the receipt.

I guess I should start checking my receipts.
