Baby Dolls

I'm sure all the gals out there in Mylot land have had a baby doll before. They have been making them since around the 15th century in some form. On Wikipedia it says that "The use of dolls as toys was documented in Greece around 100 AD. Amazing. But, what about these new baby dolls that have come out over the last few years. Realistic baby dolls made to look just like a baby. There are companies popping up all over and for all prices. You can even buy a kit and make your own. I have seen stories about this on TV before. Groups of women getting together to make them and share theirs. Some are very expensive too. And, like most things people get into, some go all out and a little to the extreme. One lady had a bedroom for female babies and one for male ones. I think they are creepy and just too life like.

I'm okay with teddy bears but not baby dolls. They really freak me out. Plus I watched Chucky and that make things worse. Now they're more like real babies, I don't want one in my house.

For some reason I never liked "human" dolls and never had one - I preferred stuffed animals. I guess I always thought they were creepy . But yah, I've seen some of the modern realistic ones . . . VERY creepy!

@celticeagle I know someone gave me a Barbie doll at some point, but I wasn't interested. I made clothes for my tigers, rabbits, monkeys, and other animals! No wait, I take that back . . . my mom made me a fabric doll . . . but she looked cartoony girl with a pony tail - not like a real baby.

I think it is a bit odd when women collect these dolls but we all have different things we enjoy so if it makes them happy then it is good for them. The newer expensive baby dolls that look really realistic creep me out. I've seen kids playing with them and their hair falls out easy and it looks gross.

Yes, same here. To real to not be is my notion. I don't think they are really to be played with.

In the '80's when Cabbage Patch dolls were all the rage. It was not something our family could afford. With three daughters aged 9,7, and 5 and a 3 year old son, I made them each a Cabbage Patch like doll. The girls had their girl dolls and my son had a boy doll (they were not anatomically correct). They still all have their dolls and my son still treasure his.
