When you turn on the TV for news and you don't like what you see

I used to be a regular consumer of local news, both the bad and the beautiful. Since the last national elections, however, I have been experiencing anxiety over certain political movements and issues. For the first time in my life, I had seriously thought of migrating to another country with a more stable government. But I'm staying for a bit more and I'm trying to be patriotic despite the growing concern over my family's future. And so I watch a bit of local news, a bit of international news ... and then I tune in to my "happy stuff" - those channels that have cooking shows, travel adventures, and some historical documentaries. Movies? Sure, as long as they're feel-good movies. I don't want to live the rest of my life dealing with frayed nerves.

Yes, I have been a witness to that. It's sad, but it happens.

I don't really watch the local news nowadays. I am tired of the politicians. I just prefer to watch some good movies or tv serials

I know what you mean. If only I could turn a blind eye all the time. But we will have to keep up with what's going on around us so we can make good decisions.

I think all of us should be exposed to reality from time to time, but we should still hope for a better future and not overthink everything.

Correct. This is why I still bother to watch news even though it's mostly about extrajudicial killings and political maneuverings.

There will always be good and bad news. Listen to the good and turn the bad off.

I'm usually glued to the news when there's a weather disturbance. These days it's the only kind of "bad news" that's worth listening to. Most days I tune in to my happy stuff. :)

Watching the news is really stressful nowadays. There is more negative than positive.

I sometimes wonder if it's the way news is distributed and made these days, what with all the platforms one can use to disseminate information, wrongful or not.

That's what I do too. But I make sure to watch at least the weather news before switching. :)

I am not a fans for watching news. If I don't like what I see, I'll just switch the channel to something else. I'd prefer to watch something that makes me feel good too.
