Anyone STILL Want to Complain About President Obama's Vacation Expenses???

Here it is Friday afternoon/early evening and there the so-called President is heading for or already in place at his "Winter White House", Mar-A-Lago in Florida. He's been in office 6 weeks and he's already cost us taxpayers, of which he apparently is NOT one, as much as President Obama's average for a whole year's worth of vacation expenses.
It's also noteworthy that President Obama didn't take his first golf trip until he'd been in office for four months and he didn't benefit financially by his vacation trips. Also, President Obama never criticized other Presidents over their golf or vacation habits.
Donald, on the other hand, took his first golf trip after only two weeks in office and his Mar-A-Lago club is used to promote his brand and the membership fee there was recently doubled to $200,000 annually. Also, Donald had tweeted 22 times criticizing President Obama for his golfing and 21 other times about his vacations.
I've never complained about our Presidents taking some time for themselves because I know they're always on the job 24/7 and everyone needs to "de-stress" now and then. However, that doesn't mean I'm okay with one who seems to be on a permanent vacation and whose wife and son are also costing us a million dollars PER DAY to stay in NYC instead of living in the People's House.

Trump's travel to Mar-A-Lago on a weekly basis is ridiculous and he should be required to reimburse the taxpayer for every dime it costs above what it would have cost him to stay in the White House or go to Camp David.
As for his wife and son in NYC, I think Trump should reimburse every dime of that, too.
That said, it is still unconscionable that Obama spent over $10 million a year of taxpayer money taking vacations to places like Martha's Vineyard and other millionaire, billionaire hangouts so he could hobnob with the rich and famous while growing ever more out of touch with regular Americans.

I have no problem with any President, regardless of party or whether I voted for him or her, taking a reasonable amount of vacation time since a "normal" POTUS (which we do NOT have now) has the most stressful job in the world. I DO have a problem with a so-called President taking weekly trips at our expense to his super fancy resort and with his wife and son apparently feeling the White House isn't good enough for them so WE get to spend a million bucks a day for their security while they stay in Trump Tower. BIG DEAL that he's not taking the $400,000 salary, that was gone in half a day.
At the rate he's going he'll have cost us more in a matter of 8 or 9 months or less than President Obama did in 8 years. With any luck, he won't last 8 or 9 months!

@UncleJoe I'll gladly admit that I dislike - make that HATE - everything about Donald Trump but I've told no lies about him, everything I think about him or say or write about him is based totally on what I've seen and heard him do and say with my own eyes. He's Hitler reincarnated, pure evil through and through.

You may want to read Uncle Joe''s response on this one written a bit less than half an hour after yours. Not sure where it will fall in the lineup though.

Judy, he's beyond bad news, he's a narcissistic pathological liar. I'm so glad the media has FINALLY started to stand up to him after nearly two years of giving him free air time and a free pass on most of his lies and outrageous words and actions.

OK - I'm going to say an unpopular thing here. I don't have a problem with Melania wanting to stay in NYC for Barron's school. It's my understanding that he is autistic and he may be doing well in his current school. I'm hoping she'll move him for the next year, though, after he's used to being in DC over the summer. Of course, mostly, I hope NONE of them is there after summer is over. But, as a Mom who had a son whose school year was disrupted by hospitalization, I had to fight the district to allow him to finish the school year where he started because it was where he was familiar. So, I can't fault her for that. Assuming that is the real reason, obviously. It might be that she just sees it as a way to stay away from her husband five days a week. Can't blame her for that, either.

I heard that they threatened to sue somebody for saying he's autistic, which if anyone said it in a nasty or mean-spirited way that's beyond wrong but suing for more money in his pocket isn't the answer. I see your point, also as a mom and a gram, but the Trumps are in a position far different from people like us and I'm sure they'd be able to find a school where he'd do just fine in DC. The thing is, it's costing us taxpayers over a million dollars a day to protect two people whose husband and father brags constantly about how rich he is and he quite likely doesn't even pay any income taxes.

@jerzgirl I'm sorry but I really can't stand Melania. I've never said that about any of our First Ladies before regardless of what I thought about their husbands but when I saw about her lawsuits for hundreds of millions of dollars against the blogger and the newspaper where it stated her ability to capitalize on being First Lady had been harmed by what she said where false stories about her I saw red. She's apparently just like Donald and his sickening adult children, out to line her own bank account on the backs of the American people. It costs a million dollars per day for them to stay in NYC, not to mention the disruptions and inconvenience to the residents and business owners in that area, and I have a real problem with that.

@anniepa The Trumps are different, but remember, Melania isn't a Trump. She only married one. And, she's not from our culture. She grew up under Communism, so I'm sure that played into the looks we've seen on her face as he as said some of the stupid spit he's been saying. She knows what tyranny looks like. And, I wouldn't be surprised if he threatened a lawsuit because his family has "good genes" and autism would mean something less than perfect. Saying Barron is autistic is the same as saying he's defective - in his eyes. And, if she found a special school near DC, you know word would get out and he wouldn't have that at all because then people would know his son wasn't "perfect". The biggest expenses from this family are the glob-trotting kids and him going to Florida every single weekend. Her in NYC is nothing compared to that.

*Friendly* reminder to everyone in this post, keep things civil. I have had to remove a number of comments that went over the line. I get that politics can bring on some passionate debate, but I think you all can do that with out getting outright mean to each other. Thank you.

I was hoping you'd weigh in on this. I apologize if I've crossed the line at all but I'm sure you saw that I was being attacked pretty viciously for no reason other than a different point of view. I love "heated" discussions which are possible to have without name-calling and insults. Thank you.

The senate should require Mr. Trump to undergo psychological testing . . I think he is crazy.

As a counsellor, my diagnosis of him is.. spoilt, narcissistic bullying behaviour stems from a childhood of parental neglect... so help him God...and the U S people... he will not survive a future North Korean War... which is looming we might be in for a WW3

Hi, Tim, I'm Annie.
Uncle Joe, I'm sorry but your facts are of the "alternative" variety. I'm very much afraid that if something isn't done to get Agent Orange out we won't have any country left, at least it won't be recognizable. Better learn how to speak Russian...
