Cherry Blossom Festivals Around The US

Washington DC- March 15 Until April 15. The peak blossom period this year is April 11. Honorary Chair First Lady Michelle Obama was involved in 2012, planting a cherry tree in West Potomac Park among dignitaries and guests. First one occurred in 1935.
Macon Georgia- Since 1982. This is listed as one of the top 20 events in the South and top 50 in the US. 350,000 Yoshino Cherry trees.
New Jersey- Branch Brook Park which runs through Belleville and Newark. 2,700 blossoms. April 11-12. More blossoms than DC. Since 1927.
California- Pasadena in April, Leona Valley first Saturday in June, Monterey Park in late April. San Francisco in April, San Leandro in late May or June. Beaumont in June.
Colorado on the 4th of July. in Paonia, CO. One of their main industries is fruit growing along with coal and microbrewing which started in 2008. Started by the Paonia Lions Club in 1946
Idaho-Cherry Festival in Gem county's Emmett. Weds. to Saturday. June 17-20 Carnival rides and a pie eating contest. 32nd annual quilt show.

I was very lucky to see the cherry blossom in Washington last year at Easter. It was very pretty!

@celticeagle We drove up beside the Potomac river to the Lincoln Memorial and those trees were a fantastic sght. I understand they had been donated by the Japanese???

I got to see the beginnings of the cherry blossoms in Japan one year, it was, amazing.

I think the earliest blossom or flower festivals in Canada are in the month of May.
