You read right. It's between a grasshopper, a half a sleeping tablet and the battle of the hot flashes! That has been my nights recently! Imagine, you get into bed, you just want to settle down, it's pitch dark...next minute you hear this loud whirr pass by your ear...you're still thinking...what the? Then something plops down on you with a thud! Well, of course I started hyperventilating! Then I threw off the covers, ran to the middle of my bedroom, jumping up and down on one spot, flapping my arms and hands around like crazy, I am lucky I didn't dislocate something or knock myself lights out, having the silent fits!!! Why silent? Because I live in a gated community and it was 2am and if I had started screaming like crazy, I'm sure my neighbours would not have appreciated that! I finally remembered there is a light switch, put the light on and saw a grasshopper On My Bed!!! So, a freaking grasshopper nearly gave me a coronary! I got my hands on a can of bug spray and let rip! Then, I never take sleeping pills but the doctor prescribed me some, I took a half a tablet one night and slept well, but the next night I was still very tired from it and fell asleep quickly...next thing...2:20am I was wide awake having hot flashes...till 4am. It's getting to the point where I am wondering if I should even try to go sleep. Have you had crazy nights like this? I think I am going to take up star gazing! Ironically, this pic I took, is of the moon on a cloudy night. Maybe take up moon gazing!

I was very lucky I never experienced hot flashes, but if a bug buzzes around me during the night I can be sure I will be unable to sleep for the rest of the night.

@LadyDuck , that is why I always have bug spray, I refuse to share my space with bugs! I still had to go sit in the sitting room till the spray had dissipated a bit, Anna, I was not impressed.

@bluesa Several times during the past weeks I have found a stinky bug near our bed. Those things do not even die during winter.

I only had a few night sweats, but they weren't too bad. However, if anything is in my room at night, with the exception of my husband or Doodles the cat, there would be no way I could sleep until it was gone! I'd hunt that sucker down. You are too funny!

@bluesa Dookles the cat is very good at alerting us to unwanted guests, thank goodness. You really should try to get some sleep, so you don't get run down and sick. Remember, others need you healthy. Heck! I'd pop an entire pill if I had to go through what you're dealing with now. xox and multiple hugs.

i sleep like a boa constrictor. but i am a light sleeper though. sounds of the cricket may be annoying to some, but for me, it can induce sleep.

I did not experience hot flashes, thank God! But I have had few crazy nights and it is not because of grasshopper but sometimes small cockroach or mosquitoes. By the way, that moon photo is stunning!

You have a very controlled mind. I am living in a crowded and narrow streets... If I saw a cockroaches I really scream... Grasshopper? I might too if I saw him sitting on my pillow as I woke up. Hehehehe!

One good thing about living in a mostly cold country, no bugs in winter.

Your title made me laugh out loud...and I do remember Hot Flashes and recently talked about them with my daughter who chose to not have children but is going to menopause at the age of 46. I've always been a bit scared of pills so i only take the ones I have too. Never did try a sleeping pill So far in my life I haven't had a grasshopper in my bed with me...

@PainsOnSlate , I have also not had children nor have I married and at the age of 40 I think it is peri-menopause, but I have most symptoms of menopause, it's odd. The Hot Flashes are such a pain. I am also wary of pills. Yeah, it just seems my luck that the grasshopper decided it wanted to cosy up to me

I never did have hot flashes or disrupted sleep but I do have an overactive mind from time to time. Sleep is a funny thing, sometimes it comes so easily and others, not so much.

You are so lucky. Yes @BelleStarr , sleep can be a funny thing, I don't know why some people struggle with it...
