It's time for another song that highlights a day of the week in the title. If you're thinking it's going by the day of the week, it's not, so Friday's song won't be "Friday Night Blues". Sorry (good song, but it didn't make the list). Here's today's song.
#9: Monday, Monday - Mamas & Papas
Yes, I know it's overplayed. Yes, the Mamas & Papas really did record other songs than this one and "California Dreamin'" ("Creeque Alley" is on my 100 favorites list!). I remember having this on an EP (another song on that EP was their version of "The 'In' Crowd") when I was a teenager (my dad ran a thrift shop, and he always let me have first crack at the 45s).
Despite the overplayed nature of this song, it really is a classic. It's a little on the bipolar side (you go from "Monday, Monday, so good to me, Monday morning it was all I hoped it would be" to "when every Monday comes you can find me crying all of the time"), but it's still on my iPod in the "classic oldies" playlist.

I knew this one was coming and there was no way you could exclude it.

It's classic. I would've used it too.
