Spoiler alerts – 2006 An obscure comedy gem subtitled, ‘A Love Story’, and a fantasy comedy drama comparable to Repo Man. Patrick Fugit plays Zia, who commits suicide at the start and then gets a job selling pizza for the Kamikaze Pizza company. Everyone in Zia’s new life is a suicide victim, and their new world has no stars in the night sky, people can’t smile and the colour is strangely diffused. Zia discovers that his girlfriend is also trapped in this strange limbo realm so he goes on a road-trip to look for her, in a car with a black hole in its footwell that swallows anything dropped there. Along the way, Zia falls for a girl called Mikal, who is there by mistake as her death was an accidental drug overdose rather than suicide. The travellers also run into singer Tom Waits, who helps them try to free Zia’s girlfriend from a Jim Jones style cult leader who thinks the best way to escape a suicide’s Hell is through committing suicide again, but Zia now faces choices regarding which girl to love especially as one of them has a chance of gaining her life back. Smart, silly and very funny at times. Arthur Chappell

Sounds like something a child would think up. Black hole in the foot well of a car.
