THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT.

What do you think about comments that are longer than the post itself ?- and I am not talking about one or two liner posts here --I mean posts that are two or three short paragraphs in length - then you get at least three or four responses that are longer than the posts.
Actually , I would be happy about it because it would mean those particular responders find the discussion interesting enough to reply at length. However it may be a bit difficult dealing with twenty such responses on one discussion - if it ever happens.
What do you think - do you prefer lengthy or short responses?

@allknowing I said - if it is interesting - like I would have to be impressed by the first two lines.

I'm just happy to get meaningful responses, long or short, and I read them all. I doubt if you would get twenty longer ones in one go unless it was a really popular discussion. Some of my own responses are quite long.

@Kandae11 I get a bit fed up with people boasting about their impatience/lack of attention span - neither are positives!

@asfarasiknow Certainly not something I would boast about.

The post must really be interesting to have the privilege of getting a comment longer than it. I guess it depends.

Good Lord...that's a no brainier! I WANT long comments. The longer the better...and the quicker my money earning gauge goes up!
I say shame on people whose post are so short that the comment are longer. However if the post is long, and the comments are long too...then what's the problem? In such cases I find my mind stimulated and I really get excited to talk on a one on one. I am an 'intellect', you know. And I am always happy to meet my counterpart.

I agree that a longer response shows that thought has been put into it. It is difficult to have a discussion if the responses are only one or two lines. Some people can fit lots of information into such a short space, but many can't.
I'd rather see mid-length responses (unless there's something particularly interesting or relevant which warrants a longer reply) in which the point is made but without waffling (which is, perhaps, hypocritical of me, as I do waffle!)

I haven't seen too many long comments yet. I keep mine short in most cases.

Lengthy or short doesn't really matter to me. As long as the response is sensible, all is fine.

I have no preferences. I appreciate every comment. I try not go make too many posts so that I could give attention to every comment.

If the response is long, its because as you say it has touched a chord and the responder would like to have their say.

I love long, detailed responses, however I have a hard time being detailed when the original post was only a sentence or 2.

I love to read long responses and comments. If someone posts a one liner, it gives me a feeling that s/he is posting response or comments for the sake of posting.

@Kandae11 I feel that there would be less number of discussions which would require short responses. If topic of a discussion is good, at least a response of 2-3 lines could be written.

I leave a lot of comments that are longer than the original posts. You might also. Otice that none of my posts are one liners.

@Kandae11 it's why a generic comment is almost impossible to respond to. Some comments are read, then I wonder if they actually read my discussion,
