Oh, I'm sorry... I forgot your name.

You have certainly been through some situation where you met people you know (by sight) but didn't know or forgot their names, right? How do you usually disguise this gaffe so that the person doesn't realize that you don't know or don't remember her/his/their name(s)?

I try to remember. Recently though they see the blank look on my face and remind me. They understand that I'm bad with names.

You say "Let me go and get you some drinks and I'll leave you both to introduce yourselves". Then you tell each person separately that you're really sorry but you can NEVER remember the other person's name.

I forget people's names too. It can be embarrassing. Usually I come right out and say so. Vince tends to wing it but often calls them the wrong name which I think is worse.
