A Long Day in Dealing A Low Level Student

I don't have a low opinion for those students who are low level in speaking the English language. I ended the day with a student who is so in denial of their weaknesses. For some reason, I don't mind if this particular student gave me a poor evaluation. I don't need to beg and be a pleasant person for being disrespected. It is really a long day and a quick dropping by in mylot felt so relaxing. I guess I need to sleep and forget the bad day today. Good night, everyone!

I have a friend who is teaching in private classes and some of her children make the teaching so hard. She complains but she has told me that it is a challenge for her to turn the weak students into strong ones. I think it's the teacher's job to find a way and make students feel motivated to become better. It can be frustrating but I think you will make it eventually!

@Shavkat That is what my friend says too, that she feels exhausted with some of her students. Online teaching is much harder, it is not that easy to get to them through the computer.

@besweet You said it right. That's the reason why I turned down the offer of having group class online. I prefer to teach 1:1 class. I can't imagine how your friend teaches the students. I had tried this before. But the pay is not that high compared to teaching online.

Actually, I had been teaching students online for more than three years. There are really some students who cannot accept their flaws. I had been so patience with these bad students. Sometimes it drains my energy.

Relax right now as much as you can and forget about Students like that. Bad days do happen so let this one go by. It can be hard to unwind but you can do it. Go to the Sea that you tell us about you know the Beaches and then go home.

@Shavkat If you have a bit of Countryside or Trees near to you that is almost the same thing so you can calm down much quicker.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I am living in the mountainside of the Philippines. I managed to have a quick stroll in our town and roaming around the local park. I find it entertaining to look at the local people while sitting on the bench.

I agree that kid's level student is really hard to deal with. But this particular student is a professional and in denial that she can't speak English well.

@JudyEv I totally agree. I don't know why this kind of student wanted to learn the language if they can't accept their weaknesses.

when i critique a case colloquium like last Friday, the presentation turns out, as always, as the English 101 subject because the students have many errors especially in spelling and subject-verb agreement. i am not perfect, but i strive to be near-perfect.this is what i tell my students also

I have the same attitude. I can't bear to see such compositions with errors. My former boss has it all. I never think twice to file my resignation.

@ridingbet Actually, I was working in a local government agency in our city. The immediate boss is so incompetent, Nosebleed, my friend! I can't tolerate it.

@Shavkat yes it is indeed funny if you work as an English teacher or ESL teacher and your employer needs to be your student as well.
