Oh yeah, really pleased . A while back I purchased organic coffee beans but I don't have a grinder so I debated on whether or not to try to crush them that was a stupid notion ..... yes yes yes, go ahead and laugh, I sure did when the lil beans went flyin round the kitchen AND no I didn't try to do that with too many of them so I didn't waste very many, those beans went into the yard by a tree. I finally figured I might as well boil them as is and wow, what a pleasant surprise, the coffee I got doing that is scrumptious. I am about to get another cup in minute but I can see how I might just become addicted to them. Now all I have to do is figure out how many beans I'll need to make a pot of really strong coffee to last me a week but I'll resolve that in due course. Do you ever boil coffee beans whole? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The photo above is one of my favorites, Ally and Boobear are sharing a BFF moment, I took this shot back in 2011, my girls were waiting for Mykey to come in the house.

I grew up in the 50s and 60s @sol_cee mom always served us hot tea and we'd put milk in it but I can't recall drinking just a glass of milk

I love it, it's what I'm used to. Of course growing up I was only allowed to drink tea.

It is not a brainwave idea at all. You will not get the full benefit of those beans if you do not grind them. So do not suggest this here to poor myLot users Talking about boiling my maid suggested that we boil the pork before cutting as it is easier that way. That i call a brainwave idea

Well, I don't have a grinder so I'll boil em. Either way it works, I get coffee to drink and the garden gets fertilizer.

Wait, so how did you actually crush them? I imagine they did act like those jumping beans . Hey, never thought to boil 'em . . . why didn't I think of that! Oh my gosh, you captured such a sweet moment!!!

they're slippery so I didn't crush em ..... good thing I only tried with a few of em. It's working out ok with the boiling, actually I had them on simmer for a few hours today and boy is the brew tasty ..... mind you, I like coffee with plenty of milk That shot is a very lucky accident, I just happened to have my camera in hand at the right moment.

I'm still experimenting @much2say ( mad scientist here) but yesterday I just left the beans on simmer most of the day and now I have a tasty brew. Today I added more water to the beans and put them on a very low burn, I have an electric stove, to see if I can leach out more brew. I'll have to let you know if that works.

A heavy wooden rolling pin and a heavy-duty plastic bag has assisted in the crushing of coffee beans in the absence of a grinder or mill... Well done for trying!

I've always drank instant but when I saw organic coffee beans at Costco I thought I'd give them a try. It never crossed my mind to get a grinder.

Well, it works really well. If I did it correctly I'll have some really strong coffee for the next week so all I have to do is add boiling water to a half cup to get a good cup in the morning. I love that shot too, they are so cute with each other.
