Ok, so I write a lot about my past 4leggers, they were so loving I just can't help it.
In the photo above is Spunky my teeny kitty at 20 or so pounds, Sophie is using him as a pillow, she's about 75 pounds and Gracie is the beauty at the top, she was never more than 55 pounds.
My loving trio and luckily for me they all lived really long lives.
Spunky lived 17 years, so sure, I miss him a lot but I know he lived a happy life with all of us. He passed away in 2007.
Gracie the beauty at the top ended up with parkinsons disease, I couldn't bare to watch her suffer so in 2001 I put her to sleep, she was almost 11.
Sophie lived 15 years, in 2010 when I was still caring for mom, she started having seizures which I almost didn't notice because I was distracted by my 93 year old mom but once I saw what my poor old girl was going through I had to put her to sleep too.
I refuse to allow any of my pets suffer if I can help it, but it's never easy to make that decision and sometimes I still feel kinda guilty even though the vet assured me that I took away their pain.
Have you ever had to spare your pet from suffering?
Thanks for listening, now I don't feel as blue.

Euthanasia. I had to put down my dog after 12 years because I couldn't bear to see his suffering. That's like losing a child. For weeks the house was sad and morbid. It takes a strong kind of love to make that sacrifice. I feel for you. and they all look so very beautiful.

I did the only thing I could for their sakes @Gita17112016 I euthanize them IF they are suffering, I refuse to allow those I love to suffer.
A lot of progress has been made extending the lives of our pets. Before the 1970s many dogs didn't live more than 10 years.

@rebelann Yes, love and cruelty and the power to make sacrifices. it's such a pity animals can't live longer. But on the other hand, it is not nice to see on animal suffering with old age. How did you deal with it?

Yes and it hurts to do it but we have had the vet put down a dog. Mush better than letting them suffer.

to you too because I know you still mourn yours as well. It goes with the territory of owning pets.
