GuruShots -
Some of us Mill Otters (MyLotters) surely do like to piddle around with photography, don't we?
I confess to being one of those people who have almost an obsession to make and to display photo images. Call that "The Photographers' Disease."
The husband of one of our good friends here on the MyLot website produces truly spectacular photographs. Let's call them what they really are - art from a camera. Good stuff that I enjoy viewing and of the type of images that I would dearly love to be able to claim as my own. Even though I did not click on the camera shutter button to make those fine photographs, I admire his pictures and have a great deal of fun looking at them.
Anyway, our MyLotter friend, @JudyEv, just recently mentioned that her photographer husband has become interested in displaying his imaging works by participating in a photo website named, "GuruShots." That website runs photo contests of the sort that they refer to as "challenges." An image subject is proposed to the website members and the member-photographers take up the challenge, submitting images of the type specified in each different challenge. The photo entries are judged and the winners are announced and the winning images are displayed on the website,
It used to be that the website received rights to use the images submitted for each contest in any way the website wanted to use them - without compensation to the image producers.
Supposedly that situation has changed for the better (as to the rights of the photographers to be compensated for the use of their works.)
Below is a link to an Internet-published article that provides more information on that situation.
Enjoy your picture-snapping, people. If you enter photo contests, I hope that you win them all.

Vince has been enjoying his time on Gurushots and thanks again for the mention. He has photos in a few categories at the moment but some of the photos others have submitted seem to have no connection with the theme - as in photos in 'Reflections' having not hint of a reflection in them. But that's okay. There might be several thousand photos in a category so they can't all be brilliant. :)
