Short break during the movie!

Last night, I finally booked tickets to watch "Kong: Skull Island" in the theater. I have been planning this movie night since last weekend and we finally had the chance to watch it. I chose a multiplex cinema inside the Mall that is close to my home. It was a good chance to go there a little early, walk around the mall and have a light dinner at TGI Friday's before the movie time. The movie duration was 2 hours, plus 20 minutes of commercials in the beginning. Most theaters over here have a short break during the movie, it is usually in the middle and it's a great chance for a bathroom visit and a little stretching. I was waiting for that break when my boyfriend informed me that this multiplex doesn't have commercial breaks. It was a big surprise for me as I was looking forward for the bathroom visit! Would you prefer to watch a movie uninterrupted or you would prefer to have a short break during the presentation? Do you have this kind of commercial/bathroom break in your country?

We don't have breaks here but I think that is a great idea. It would be better then people getting up during the moving and distracting everybody.

I like the short breaks too, otherwise it is distracting to see people leaving and coming back during the movie. Also the people who leave miss part of the film and it is unfair to them too. Over here it depends on the cinema, most theaters have the short breaks but they don't inform the viewers in advance unless they ask.

Mostly our movies don't have a break in the middle either.

I wonder if it happens in other countries, so far no one else has them here. Do you get the 20 minutes commercials in the beginning of the movie?

@JudyEv The trailers of the upcoming movies are nice! I have seen a few upcoming films that seem nice this way!

@besweet I'm not sure how long it is but it seems at least that long. And we get trailers of films that are coming.

I do not watch movie, since I cannot sit still for such long hours. It is different in office work, as I can vary my activities to go for toilet break or coffee break or to walk over to talk to a colleague. Sitting though 2 hours of movie is a nightmare.

We don't get them here. I think we used to, many years ago. I wouldn't like it. If I'm watching a film at the cinema I don't like any distractions, and a break in the middle would be a huge one!

I was reading that some countries do have some kind of breaks during the movie but it depends on the theater. Do you like it more as it is now at your area, without the little break in the middle of the movie?

@Deepizzaguy It is refreshing, especially if the movie is long. Many people go out for refills, bathroom visits or for a quick walk to stretch their legs during the break. Others decide to sit inside the theater and talk about the movie. But I think they all enjoy the short breaks!

That is the big difference when watching a movie in the theater and at home - you cannot use a remote and pause it for a bathroom break, or to get some snacks.

In long movies, it is more possible to need a bathroom break and I find the short break very convenient. Watching a movie at home gives us the freedom to pause at any time and take as many breaks as we like!
