The Northern Lights Night

It was summertime in the late 70's. Late night after one of my friend's usual selling parties. She had tupperware, Mary Kay, Home Decor, etc. type parties every so many months. This night she had served spiked punch with 7-up, green sherbert and vodka. My daughter was nine and had been invited too. She had been given some virgin punch beforehand. But, as we got interested in the product being sold and paying close attention my daughter went around and finished our drinks for us. By the time the party was over she was a bit tipsy. We went out to our cars and I noticed the Northern Lights in the sky. It was very clear that night and there was a ribbon of green going slowly across the sky.* It lasted only a few moments, we said our goodnights and left.
Earlier in the day her cat hadn't come in as it usually did. She had been a little concerned. Now, at nearly midnight and bit tipsy she was emotional over her cat. So, all the way home down Harrison Boulevard and a side street she insisted on having the window open and was crying "My Kitty is gone! My kitty is lost!" I was amazed people weren't looking but they didn't seem to notice my poor daughter with her head stuck out the window lamenting about her cat.
* It seems that each year for only a handful of times the Northern Lights can be seen in the Inland Northwest. Between after 11pm and before 3am is the best time to see them and they are usually situated between latitudes of 60°N and south. Although usually seen in Alaska and Northern Canada but rarely they can be seen on a clear night over the Inland Northwest.

I see northern lights every time i had a migraine...thats how the docs refer to the flashing lights. After all that, does your daughter drink? I think that would have turned me off booze!

No, she doesn't. Neither of us do. That was my drinking time and all gone now. I think it's a waste of money. I'd rather have chocolate.

It is one of those once in a life time things. All the elements have to be in line. Calm, warm evening, right time, etc.
