Don't panic! PBS Kids shows are not going away

I received an email from Wordgirl (W G Ventures) Ventures which is located in Portland Oregon under the name Rainy Day Studios that due to the Federal Government pulling funds for the Public Broadcasting Network (PBS), shows like Sesame Street, Wordgirl and other will cease to exist.
Here is what is likely to happen. Now anyone with an ounce of brain cells that works knows that the shows that are on PBS and PBS Kids have sponsors like Chuck E Cheese, Chick Fil A, Wendy's and others to support funding of the cartoons that appear on that network.
An article in Politichicks.com states that the popularity of the characters that have entertained children for many years will continue for years to come since kids and adults want to be entertained and educated.
I have to love the fear letter that came to me from the powers that be at Rainy Day Studios. Come on even though Wordgirl is not an iconic hero like Superman, Batman, Wolverine, Captain America and others, she has a huge teenager fan base that like her sharp wit and knowledge of words found in the dictionary.

The vast majority of PBS funds are from corporate sponsors, viewer donations and revenue from PBS selling its products. Taxpayer funds are like 5%.

That is the point of the article by Politichicks.com. People admire the PBS Kids characters and they will support them. Okay so Wordgirl is not the second coming of Supergirl in terms of being an icon but she has a great fan base that will buy merchandise. Those comedians at Rainy Day Studios (W G Ventures) if they saw my cousins wearing their native Panamanian gear they would think they were Martians.

So the purpose of this is to a.) seek more private contributors or b.) continue to cast the present government in a bad light and make people more fearful. I think I have been reading for a couple of weeks that only 3 or 4 percent of funding for PBS comes from the government. People who watch it will continue to support it and their pledges during different shows will indicate how popular a show is.

When Louisiana Public Broadcasting have their annual fundraisers the announcer say on television "If you want to see your favorite show, make a donation to keep your favorite show on the air." I had to chew out Wordgirl Ventures (WG Ventures) which is working on an internet show called Wordgirl Advance which should be on You Tube in 2018 that Wordgirl has a huge fan base and they will support her. Now my original characters Donna and Debi Isthmus along with their close friend Panama Squirrel that is another matter.

Come on do not panic. As long as the fans support their favorite shows by buying the merchandise and donating to their PBS station, the show will stay on television. People like Sesame Street, Wordgirl and company since some of the companies that sponsor the PBS Kids show have children too.
