How much sleep is enough sleep?

I have noticed that my sleeping habits change depending on the season. Usually I am trying to get an average of 7 hours every night but it is not always possible. During the summer, I feel fully rested with less hours but in winter time, my body needs more hours of resting. What are your sleeping habits? How much sleep is enough for you?

This is common for most of the people. Most of us sleep for longer hours in the cold season. And in the warm season most of us tend to sleep less. When I was small I studied an 8 hours sleep is very much necessary for healthy living. But if you can atleast have 6 hours you will survive well.

6 hours is fine too, but then we might need to recharge with energy during the weekend! I also need some extra coffee during the day if the sleep is not enough.

@subhajitsil6 When I had exams at the university, someone recommended two chocolate pieces every morning before the exam or before studying for extra energy and clear mind.

@besweet You can have chocolate bites rather than coffee sips that would help you get even more energies.

I usually need 6-7 hours a night. Sometimes, I do need a little more. But generally that's what I need.

@besweet I try to have one. I usually go to bed, once my kids are asleep, and wake up with them. Although I will sometimes wake up, if they do.

@Lupita234 No not always. I have to get as much as I can while they're sleeping.

6-7 hours is necessary for our body and mind to rest and recover. It depends on the person, I am mostly at the 7+ side but usually I manage to get a little less. Do you have a consistent sleeping schedule?

I require eight hours of sleep per night. Anything less then that leaves me feeling sleepy the next day.

8 hours would be nice! Do you wake up at the same time every morning? I wake up naturally at 7:30 so my sleeping hours depend on the time that I go to bed the previous night!

Yes, I usually wake up at 7am after getting to sleep around 11pm. I often go to bed around 9:30 pm and listen to the radio for an hour.

@MainerMikeBrown I also relax on the bed and watch tv shows before sleeping, or read books. Relaxing with music and reading helps a lot.

It is important to keep a schedule with sleeping habits, I think that our bodies like routines. 7-8 hours of a good night's sleep sound ideal!

I'm not sure what's enough but sometimes I'm sure I don't get enough.

When we wake up feeling tired, it is a sign that we didn't get enough sleep! It depends on each person's activities though during the day. I think that on exhausting days, more sleep is necessary to wake up with new energy!

@JudyEv We can get better sleeping quality on relaxed days. On the active days resting is more necessary, even after retirment!

@besweet I'm sure you are right. Because we no longer work our days are mostly quite relaxed.

I must be getting older, because nowadays I need 8 good sleeping hours to rest! Of course I don't get them every day but still, I have less energy now.

Sleeping and resting is very important and I know that it is very hard to fix the sleeping hours and have a consintent schedule. I managed to do it only because I had to wake up at the same time every day for work. I used to have irregular times too.

I think it is different for everyone. I need to sleep 10 hours at the last time.
