Just a little Birdie

I was cleaning out my computer and moving many an ODD looking photo to the recycled bin for deletion when I came upon this one. My hubby had made the Bird Feeder which is called "voeltjiewyn" wine for the birds . . vanilla sugar water with a little natural colouring to keep the birds in the garden happy and content especially during the winter months when there are no blooms to feed them. I am not sure what bird this is, but how beautiful he blends into the greens of nature. Have you looked into the garden today - what do you see? I have a song in my heart today . . . All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small . . do you know it?

That's a fancy little feeder and a cute little bird. I know the song too and have read all the James Herriott books that have their titles from the song.

I love those books too, I read them all when I was about 10 or 11 and of course wanted to be a vet. It was adapted for BBC TV too in the 70s and we all used to watch that religiously!

That is a very clever bird feeder. The song is very familiar.

@Inlemay ~Last summer, I hung a Hummingbird feeder on my front porch. I enjoyed watching them. I saw a bird house in a mail order catalog that sticks to your window and the back of the birdhouse is clear plastic or glass so that you can see inside of the bird house. I might get one of those, too, if I can find them where they are inexpensive. The picture is of a Hummingbird at my feeder last summer.

We have two bird feeders and two suet feeders for the birds during the long winter. In the spring and summer we hang a hummingbird feeder and remove at least one of the suet feeders. Yesterday is saw my first flowers in the brush at the edge of our lawn. I always go in search of this clump of snowdrops.

What a beautiful contraption Lany! Reminds me of some gadget that hograisers install in their pens for the pigs. When the pig needed to drink water, they just bite the nozzle of the attachment to the water system and out comes the water to satisfy their thirst.
