I just finished watching a BBC Documentary on Youtube about the Victorian Chemist. The name of the documentary is "The Victorian Pharmacy" and I"ll be leaving a link to the first video down below.
Each is about an hour long and spans over four videos.
Three people come together to experience the working life of a Victorian Chemist. One man is a Professor in Pharmaceuticals, His Apprentice is a Student in PhD and the last is a lady who is simply noted as a Historian.
They embark on this journey in a small museum / victorian town somewhere in or around Shropshire, England, UK.
I was impressed with everything to be quite honest. The authenticity of their products was astounding. They had quite the collection of either authentic (or genuine replicas) of actual Victorian medicinals. I felt that if I were to walk into that shop, I would be walking back into the past.
They learned about all manner of things, from the poisons the chemists inadvertently dispensed to customers, to the art of photography. They had several other historians join them from time to time, and a herbalist that helped them gather locally sourced herbs and plants for their trade.
It was presented in a very relaxed manner. If you are interested in The Victorian Era especially in medicine, then give this series a try.

Sounds like an interesting series. I don't have the bandwidth to watch it, though.

It's a pity you won't be able to watch it.

It must have been a very interesting programme. Sadly these days the pharmacists are not necessarily as good as those from the past who could knock up certain lotions and potions and look at you in disbelief when you ask for certain things never having had to make up things or even heard of them. I despair sometimes of some professions.
