My sis in law came with my youngest nephew to take Mom and I to get Mom her in-between-chemo treatments Procrit shot. The Procrit, from my understanding, is supposed to help her body produce hemoglobin (red blood cells?). From what the nurse said, Mom's hemoglobin was even lower than when they took it the last time, which I'm guessing was at her last chemo treatment (?). Weird. Mom has been able to walk around herself, which is something that she's usually not able to do when her blood count is low (which makes her heart pump harder, which makes her breathless). Hopefully this next week will go by fast (Mom has had two weeks off of chemo) and she'll get her next Procrit shot soon.

It's an ongoing saga isn't it? All the best to you both - and Angel.

Well, originally she went once a week--but then they changed her schedule to once every two weeks.

I have this every two weeks.I had this on my post.Been on it for years. This what keeps us alive. she can have it every week if she want to.I stop this and two weeks is plenty for me.I get around very good. My last hemoglobin was down to 7.4 I was dragging.could not get a shot for a whole month. My BP is too high. now it is controlled and got my shot Tuesday.Does she get side effect from this?

I think she does get it once a week. The only difference with her is that two weeks she gets it by going to the Kaiser here, and then the week she has chemo she gets it when she's there.
