Today marks three years since a family friend passed away.
Her name was Bernice, and she was my Great-Grandmothers bestfriend.
Every Saturday my Great-grandmother would drive 45minutes to come see her daughter (my Grandmother), and all her Grandkids, and us Great-Grandkids. And most of those Saturdays, Bernice would be right there with her.
We loved her as if she was blood. And we never had anything bad to say about her. She was very sweet and cute. And always saying we were "cunning".
Shortly after my Great-Grandmother passed away, Bernice was put into a nursing home. So we searched for the one she was in, and went to visit her at least once every two weeks. (As it was 45mins away, and my Mom had work and all that). And we would bring her balloons, flowers, teddy bears..
But at some point we stopped going to visit because something was always in the way.. work, gas, car being broken, having visitors at home.. etc.
And a few weeks later, we found out that she had passed away while we were reading the newspaper..
My heart was broken. It was kind of like losing my Great-Grandmother all over again. And the fact that we stopped visiting her, hurt me so much more.. I kept apologizing to both her and my Great-Grandmother every day for about three weeks. It really hurt.
.. Hope they're both up there laughing at everyone down here.
Rest in peace B.

It is very hard to find the time to visit people in nursing homes but I am sure she was very appreciative of all the times that you went.

So sorry for your loss my friend.
Yes rip B.
One always feels so sad when things have gotten in the way of precious time spent with loved ones and then they are gone.

I am sure that they are both together and having a good time. Not easy to lose someone you love dearly. Harder to get through it when you were unable to visit as much as you would have liked.
