Crushed ice to quench one's thirst

This is what I just heard kids are doing where there is extreme heat - going for crushed ice mixed in sugary syrup. There is no other way as the heat here is soaring, leading to parched throat. I am going now in search of what kids have found out

The sugary syrup won't really help in dealing with heat and thirst.....but the crushed ice will. Sugar makes you more thirsty.

But we can't drink or eat a lot of crushed ice without something to flavor it...

We call them 'gola' It is great to taste. They have different syrups we can choose from.

I just love those icy treats! They used to be sold in my neighborhood when i was a kid. a little old man would be pushing around a cart with this huge chunk of ice and 5 or 6 different flavors of syrup , then he would use an ice scraper put it in a cone like wrapper and squirt whatever flavor you wanted , i think it cost abut 25 cents .
