You see that cool work of art in the photo? That's my bike. See that other cool work of art? That's Tower of Bikes, a tower of bike frames welded into a sculpture by a guy (I'm assuming) named Sean Mueller. Each year, Colorado Springs displays art (the selection rotates annually) on Downtown streets. The sculptures are for sale, otherwise you can stroll the area and enjoy the art. Tower of Bikes is on display at the Downtown bus terminal. It was a cold, snowy day, I had my bike with me, and I was waiting for the bus, thus the photo. (Plus, they kicked me out of the terminal for smoking, so I had to do something.) Not sure what it costs, but I bet Tower of Bikes would look great inside my favorite locally-owned bike shop!

That is awesome brother, share some more. I am mad at the world want more art because they want to blow it up. Lets rebel by doing peaceful things.

Rich white guys don't profit from art. That's why they want to blow it up.

@teamfreak16 OK, well I have nothing trying to be all inspirational and the rich win again.

@crossbones27 - Protest through Art sounds good to me. We gotta do something. Preferably something that doesn't get my head bashed in by a nightstick!

You could put something like this in the exhibit. Yup, this is really something, I've seen some art but nothing like this related to bikes.

Pretty cool! The website says that Bicycle Tower by Sean Mueller costs $2,500! I think that my favourite would be "Galactic Stardust" but I don't have $29,000 to hand (let alone the shipping costs!)
Art on the Streets has enlivened the public spaces of Downtown with a yearly exhibit of works of sculpture from around the world. View what's on display.

@hereandthere A lot of them looked interesting, especially as art for public spaces, but the thumbnails are too small to give a good idea and there seem to be no larger images. I tend to go for sculptures which I might entertain in my garden and 'Cold Moon over Taos' looks rather large! I also liked 'The Consequence of Line' and could see that as the centrepiece for a public square surrounded by modern buildings in a reddish stone or brick with many uprights and horizontals, giving a contrast both in line and colour.

Ah yes, Mueller. That's it. Thanks, I updated it. About 10 years ago, they had one called XO made from used railroad tracks that was around $250,000.

@teamfreak16 The only concern I'd have was that structure hard? If someone was in a fight what if someone threw the person into that corner. I always have what if moments

Your locally-owned bike shop could probably create his own if he felt so inclined.

@teamfreak16 To be honest, I see very little evidence of 'art' in the 'Tower of Bicycles'. From the picture it looks as if the artist has some elementary welding skills and an ability to paint in different colours.

@owlwings - I just like it because it has to do with bikes, mostly. But I do like walking around every year and checking all of the new sculptures out.

Maybe you should let them know it's up for grabs? That is definitely a very cool piece of art. I assume these were old frames that would just sit and rust otherwise?

@teamfreak16 My brother used to build bikes... We had frames and tires in the shed for years and he'd tinker and build bikes... I don't think we ever rode any..
