hogging the seat

United Kingdom

My teapot only contained enough water for one and a half cups of tea. I should probably complain, but I shan't as I've been hogging this seat for nearly an hour now. I have a mouthful left. It's cold. How long can I make it last? It's not busy though so nobody is rushing me. I have an hour and a half to play with before I meet Mumsy. I think I'll visit the swans and ducks by the river. The sun is shining and they'll be frisky. I also need to pop into a shop and look at their spring jackets. Oh, and I shall be really daring and go to the library. I don't even know if the one in this town is open on a Friday morning. What an adventure! The market is on today, as the rhyme dictated, and so I shall have the opportunity to indulge in a spot of people-watching. Who shall I see today? ChavMum in her pink velour tracksuit, dragging a bunch of screaming kids around? Old Woman in her headscarf and duffle coat, buttons done up, ignorant of the sunny sunshine and blue skies? Teenage Kid enjoying his Easter break, skateboarding near the poor ducks? I'm getting The Look now. You know, the one that says, You've been here for too long, please leave. Or maybe I'm just being a wee bit paranoid. Either way, it is now time for me to enjoy the next part of my day out. Happy Friday, everyone! And would you listen to that ... Blondie has just started singing on the airwaves. Debbie Harry can accompany me to the loo, bless her.

Hearing Blondie come on a radio or whatnot when out and about, always manages to cheer me up a little!

Poor ducks they do not appreciate kids a lot. We have been asked to stop feeding the swans, there are too many and they are becoming aggressive. I try only to feed the ducks, but the swans are aggressive and they steal the food.

Yes, that happens here. The swans are big meanies when it comes to free food!

@poppylicious I do like tuneful company in the loo. Debbie's a good choice for a potty buddy. Today I cashed in my Costa points for two pots of tea and four biscotti for me and my wife and I still have some left over. I hope also that you didn't hog the loo seat and overstay your welcome there.
