Sony Studios movie Smurfs: Lost Village opened in third place in the box office report with $14 million on the three day period. DreamWorks Animation/Fox movie The Boss Baby was in first place and Disney Studios Beauty And The Beast came in second place on a three day period. I hate to say this but maybe the Smurfs franchise which was very popular in the 1980s may have run its course since the third movie did not topple the movies Beauty And The Beast and The Boss Baby. The Smurfs had two animated movies that preceded The Lost Village which were The Smurfs (2011) and the Smurfs (2013) which were box office hits in the past.

Honestly, i dont think its the smurfs not being good anymore but people just being excited for a beauty and the beast remake. Plus, not everyone has the same taste in movies.

Maybe the Smurfs are not hot at this time since they competed against Baby Boss And Beauty And The Beast.

Sometimes when good kids movies are released back to back like that parents are not ready to go to another one in theatres right away

@Courtlynn I know a lot of Wordgirl fans who are teenagers who are My Little Pony and Miraculous Ladybug fans. I just guess the Smurfs are ancient history for now.

The funny thing of the Smurfs characters is then I went visit Panama in 1986 I saw the military police cars from Panama with likenesses of the Smurfs on the trucks. How about that?

You are not going to believe this but my relatives and myself went to Panama in 1986 on vacation I did see some of the Panamanian military vehicles with the likenesses of one of the Smurfs on their trucks. To put it mildly I was shocked. Could you imagine a U S military vehicle with the likeness of Wordgirl on their vehicle? They would be laughed at.

I don't really watch Smurfs movies. I think because so long has passed they do not hold my interest as much. In fact, when I look with a new eye, some parts are pretty annoying. They are characters that grow on you.

I am not exactly a Smurfs fan since I cannot relate to them like I can relate to super heroes like the Avengers, Justice League or Wordgirl. The funny thing is when I visited Panama in 1986 on vacation, the Panamanian military paddy wagons had images of the Smurfs on them.
