Fashion I don't understand: figured leggings

Another fashion trend that I simply don't get: figured leggings. While I can partially see this I don't understand the current craze for leggings, particularly the figured ones.  In the video below I find most of the looks and pairings cringe inducing.  Leggings not worn under a dress, skirt or tunic, in my personal opinion only look nice on one figure, that ever hard to attain slim body looks nicely in them, however those of us like me with a little extra weight look best with leggings under a tunic or longer top, skirt, or dress. Particularly the wildly figured ones can be particularly unattractive on the larger shape.   Into my memory springs the recollection of an only slightly larger than normal college aged girl ahead of me in line at Chipotle wearing wildly patterned leggings which accentuated every little bulge, ripple and crease.  Please note - I was not judging the girl, or the girl's body both of which were fine - only the way in which her clothes looked on her.  Of course - this is all my opinion only.  In reality I think people should wear what they feel attractive in and if that's print leggings then so be it. :-)

Leggings, plain and printed are all the fashion here. I will refrain from any further comment.

Honestly, all leggings really only look good on thin bodies. Same as most bathing suits. But i found leggings as comfortable recently and now wear them myself. Regardless if my butts not big and firm and i have a little jiggle in my thighs. Aha.

I agree with you there. It's one of those things like jumpsuits, only nice on the ultra thin. However - if you like them and are comfortable in them - that's what counts.

i don't wear them because i live in a hot country and feel even hotter when i wear fitted clothes. i don't wear stretchy skinny jeans either for the same reason. but if i did one day wore them, i might choose the printed ones over the plain ones, and a long solid color slightly loose top. it really depends on the design.

I agree - I think it looks best with a longer top - I can only imagine how uncomfortable these would be in a hot climate.

These leggings don't suit everyone that's for sure.

So true, and yet so many seem to wear them here... big trend for some reason. A shop owner once tried to convince me that I needed some - I told her the truth - I'm not a big fan of printed - anything for bottoms

Ugh... why is this such a trend? Seems like they're wildly popular here too - mostly around the college campus ...

My 8 year old granddaughter wears them. No adults should, unless they are exercising and look semi decent!

leggings look best with slim legs and thighs. it will look awkward to those women who have full or fat lower limbs, or bulges in etheir tummies as well. i had a pair of blue leggings when i was in Kuwait. it looked good in me because i am slim, but then it wore out.

I think you should get a new pair since you enjoyed them . Agree - they are pretty unforgiving to larger figures....

Skinny jeans, better than leggings

I think leggings look fine on a shapely figure. I myself have never worn leggings of any type.

With the right top (or dress) probably so - though it seems like the printed kind aren't flattering - at least on the bodies I've seen them on.

It's in trend here too now But I think we must wear what actually suits us. But still what makes them happy, as you also said :)
