What is your definition of "Home" ?..

I grew up in a chaotic dysfunctional home.. Even in my young ignorant and innocent mind, I knew that it was not the way humans should live.. As a vulnerable child depending on the adults, a child has no choice.. But one good thing about life is that, we grow up and as adults, we are free to choose our life experiences.. I spent my childhood fearing homelessness, So I made a decision that I am going to work hard to make sure, that I will have a home I deserve. My HOME is not physical nor material.. But I would not have found my HOME had I not experienced the security of a material peaceful home.. It was a long and very difficult journey which I prepared myself for because homelessness is not an option for me.. I take ME home to ME.. I take my HOME with me.. I AM home.. LIFE is awesome! .. I AM grateful.. .. What is your definition of home? Bess .. .

I've never really thought about it but it is a good question to ponder on. I guess home is where Vince is at the moment. We have a nice house and material comforts but it is nothing without love and companionship.

@JudyEv .. Yes indeed, our material home is nothing if we have no one to share it with ..

@epiffanie And I had a typo in my response. I put 'with' instead of 'without'. I keep doing that and it really annoys me.

My childhood might not have been ideal but I felt safe. We always had food on the table, clean clothes and were generally well looked after. Home is the feeling of being safe and warm with the people you love around you and it's the place you can't wait to get back to if you go away.

Home to me is wherever my husband is. I am happy and relaxed as long as we are together. I guess for me home is where my heart is and my heart is with the hubby.

@epiffanie Bess, that is a very good discussion. I grew up in a very bad home situation too. To me Home is my domain to do what I want and to raise my cat in. I find that I am an adult that I can do what I want and go to bed when I want and get up when I want. Home is a very special place that you can call your own.

@Hannihar Oh!.. I can imagine how frustrating to have noisy neighbours..Don’t they have rules for tenants regarding noise?.. But I’m glad you have good landlord and that you have neighbours that you like...

@epiffanie Bess, inside the home it is fine but the noise above and across from me is not. I keep praying that they will move and we can have all nice neighbors. It took two years for the ones that lived above before this guy to move and I believe they told him how to drive me nuts or maybe he is just that type. He is a real jerk and I treasure the times when he and the ones across from us are not here. It is so much quieter. I love the area and have a place for my scooter and like my landlord and some of the people in the building and have here what I have been wanting for so long. I am not going to move because I am sure it isn't better anywhere else. As long as the landlord lets us continue to live here then we will. Moving is a nightmare.

Home to me is our physical home where I, my husband and son live harmoniously together. This is my piece of heaven on earth. I also have another home and that is my ancestral home where I and my siblings with our respective family meet from time to time to spend quality time together.

i remember reading a write-up about someone whose family moved a lot (different countries). she said she feels at home anywhere where her family is. i guess that's what "home is where the heart is" means.

Yes it's where the heart is .. I am now torn between two countries .. when I go home there, I can't wait to come back home here.. and while I'm here, I am preparing to go back home there .. so to avoid feeling torn, I decided that I AM home ...

Home is family inside one house. But in your case maybe you can't disagree on this. However you can make your own home better to the ruined home where you've been through.

yes. this is the ultimate truth. But this idea will be less in the masses. Only a few will have this idea. If everybody possesses this idea there is no need of any shelter and one need not struggle at all. The term REFUGEE will disappear from the Dictionary. ah.a.h..ah..

@FayeHazel .. Thank you so much .. Children who grew up in a stressful insecure environment are mostly deep thinkers .. I owe so much from that child in me who went through a lot to prepare me for the most difficult decisions I had to make as an adult..
