For the benefit of those who like short posts how about putting a summary of what contains in your long post. I am sure many like me who like short posts will skip long posts just as I had a moment ago. I clicked on that title and saw there were countless paras What say?

You can deal with it but if there is a summary of sorts many will respond to those long posts.

I try not to make long posts and if they end up being to long I will make a part one and part two. Easier to read in two discussions.

It is not a bad idea if the host gives a summary either at the end or in the beginning of his/her long post, so that others could get an idea, what is all about. I also feel hesitant to read and respond to long posts. Having said that I doubt if anyone is going to act on your reasonable appeal.

@allknowing Yes, it is difficult to stay focused on long posts. This rules applies in real life also, if someone is conversing with us and telling his/her stories in great details, after listening to him for sometime, we tend to lose our focus on what s/he is saying.

It is a request. I would very much want to respond to their posts but I cannot stay focussed on long posts.

Depends on the content. If it's too long and too boring, I skip. But if it's as interesting as what @antonbunot usually writes, I don't mind.

As I said there are some who cannot focus on long posts and for them if there is a summary those posts would get responses.

@allknowing I think some people are not here just to get a lot of different responses. I guess some are here to interact even with just a few, but a meaningful and fun ones.

Take it or leave it I say. Long posts can be more interesting than short posts if they are well written. I'm known to avoid short posts

It is not about you but about those who prefer short posts. If one likes to write long posts they could but a synopsis would help those who prefer short posts. For some focussing on long posts is an issue. This way those who write posts with a synopsis would get more responses.

@valmnz I am not talking about the right but I merely said if there is a synopsis then even those who prefer to read short posts would respond to those long posts.

@allknowing I know what you mean, but every one has the right to choose to read what they want, as well as write what they want. There are plenty of posts to go round to suit everyone don't you think?

I think that's what title is intended to do. When user read the title he/she should get the gist of your post and actual discussions should contain details. I see some posts with title very short or puzzling though

Some are very peculiar here. They woo the users with titles that have nothing to do with the topic

@vijay_2016 Neither do I. One does not have to be desperate to get attention.
13 Apr 17
@allknowing thats one way to grab attention of the other users, though I don't like it

I agree. I like to have discussions but when someone writes a long discussion I'll move on to one that is not so long. This isn't a writing site, it is a discussion site, right? What'll we discuss?

I don't usually write a long post here. But then, if I am in the mood. I tend to write longer than the usual short posts.

We are all free to write whatever way we choose but my suggestion was if there is a summary to the long post many more would respond to it.

@allknowing I do agree, my friend. I had noticed that short posts can have more comments.

I have a ridiculous tendency to write long posts, but I'm not going to add a summary too! If someone finds something interesting they will read it, long or short. Likewise, they can just move on to the next post if they don't have the attention span to read to the end! :)

That is already done but the idea of adding more posts to get responses if there was a summary attached is what I had suggested.

A summary would be fine, but in my opinion not necessary. Just close it and chose a discussion to your liking. If I were going to make an appeal it would be to get rid of very short posts. But people are not here to do what I prefer. I especially dislike part 1, part 2, etc. posts. But I would never suggest others stop doing what they like.

Rather than ignore long posts if there was a kind of summary more would respond to long posts.

not all long posts are boring; there are some short discussions i think that are boring as well, and does not cater to my taste. this is my own opinion. (if i come across a boring discussion, i might as well move on)

What is boring or not boring depends on what a user is searching for regardless of the length of the post. I am referring to long posts which could be interesting but are skipped because of their length. Not all can stay focussed.
