Little things mean a lot

After my mother-in-law died last month, we brought home a few things she wanted us to have. Something that I remembered seeing in her kitchen was a set of tiny blue glass bottles. They look like upside down light bulbs! They aren't valuable antiques, but they're special to me. Little things do mean a lot. Do you have something that's not valuable money-wise, but that you treasure?

There are some things that belonged to my grandmother and although they are not antiques, they are worth all the money in the world to me.

I know how you feel. I have a china head doll that was my great-grandmother's and even though it could be sold for probably a few hundred dollars, it's priceless to me and hopefully will always be kept in my family.

I am terribly sentimental and I have lots of little things from a bunch of different sources that mean something to me. Those are adorable.

@1creekgirl Some of my favorite things are not valuable, being worth money doesn't give things real value. We would never sell our most sentimental things anyway lol

They are so cute! It's the little things which are far more valuable to us than the big things, like money! Although I'm sure that helps too. I think I would have wanted those as a reminder of her too.

@1creekgirl They are adorable. I imagine they're supposed to look like lightbulbs {I've seen similar}. Do they actually unscrew?!

I love those very cool, never seen any bottles like that but I can understand why you like them. Many many years ago I bought a beautiful globe type paperweight for my mother in law. When she passed on it's the one thing I wanted so badly to remind me of my wonderful mother in law. Thankfully I was able to get it and am pleased. As for my mom's things I know it doesnt' make sense but she had the biggest cast iron frying pan I have ever seen, I wanted it very much and my brother's and sister's didn't want it so now I have it.

Yes you are correct. There are some things which has no monetary value but still we can't leave them. I have many wrist watches which are of no use but I can't throw them because they remind me of the person who gave and I don't want to lose.

It's the memories that make something special, not the value. In that we agree. I have several things that are priceless to me but not worth a nickel to others! A painting my grandpa did, his Goodyear ashtray from way back whenever, Grandma's doilies that she tatted, a pair of her magnetic earrings, a copy of a paining that hung in my other grandma's house, and a few other things. I have a little box my mom gave me with a poem on it saying don't open it, just hold it when I need some love because that's what it's full of. I'd rather have those things than a mansion!

I thought they were really light bulbs at first! I think they do look special indeed. But you are right, little things mean a lot especially it they came from someone we love. I still keep my Mom's old scissors which she used in sewing clothes. She was a dressmaker and all my dresses when I was a kid were made by her.

I've never seen bottles that look like that and I did think they were blue lightbulbs. When my mom passed away a few months ago I wanted her sewing box as it was something she treasured. Of course she could sew way better than me.

It really is true that money doesn't always define the worth of something.
