The birds couldn't wait

The birds couldn't wait until we finished painting their bird house. We started painting it yesterday in order to put it back up for the first time this spring. It was left to dry overnight and this morning I noticed the birds started work on their nests. Had to touch up the paint they scratched but it is up now and within seconds they were setting up house. Do you have a bird house in your yard?

@Freelanzer Wow - how cool is that! Your little birds must be so pleased when it goes up each spring. Where would they nest naturally if they could?

apparently, the house sparrows here build their nests in someone's roofs and ceilings, sometimes on trees. our neighbor has a bird house, but only intended for doves and pigeons

They have to nest somewhere so if they don't have a house they do it elsewhere

@Freelanzer the house sparrow, or what we call house birds here, nest on trees and in the roofs. it is better on the roofs because they won't get wet when rains come.

No birdhouse, because I have cats. It would turn into a cat snack bar.

Oh, that's adorable! I like chickadees. We have birdfeeders and we get lots of chickadees, but we don't have any birdhouses up. Maybe I should make that my spring project!

I have four bird houses in my back yard. And i'm thinking about putting anther one up soon since the current four are all occupied.
