Good old apple pie

I got this memory from @LadyDuck discussion about desserts around the world. My memory is from childhood. Dad was the pie baker in the family, and gramps owned several apple orchards. Every time we visited gramps dad went to making pies. He put newspaper down on the table and had me peeling and slicing up the apples. Dad was making crusts for about 3 or 4 pies. We would have hot apple pie for supper then and gramps would cut off a slice of either blue cheese or cheddar. Both cheeses are amazing melting on a hot pie. After supper was done and the women were done cleaning up we left for home with one or two pies in tow. Pixabay image

@toniganzon thank you. Unfortunately, my dad is deceased. He would have reached his 102nd birthday Feb. 5, if he lived.

Thank you for mentioning. I have never tried blue cheese with apple pie, but I know that it is very good with warm pear pie.

@LadyDuck I've never heard of pear pie. I might try to make anew apple brown Betty with pears instead of apples.
