Still feeling without energy from this "bug" that has been going around, but the other day I decided to take a bath, do some dishes and some laundry. The night before on the village's FaceBook page there was this message: "we will be draining, cleaning and disinfecting the water tower. During this time the water system is going to be running off of "pop-off" valves in various parts of town. This is so that the well can run steadily for the duration of this process. There is no need to restrict water use or be alarmed as there will be water running into various storm drains and gutters." So, I just assumed we would still have water, as it states that there is no need to restrict water. The next morning when I was going to do all those things that I mentioned, we had breakfast and went to turn on the faucet to get dishes started and NO water!!! The next day on their FaceBook page was this message:"BOIL WATER ADVISORY The Village of Stratton is hereby making public notice to all occupants. The primary purpose of this public notification is to inform consumers of any potential health effects relating to the drinking water being supplied to them. Due to a complete loss of pressure in the system, it is necessary to vigorously BOIL WATER FOR ONE (1) MINUTE for drinking and cooking or to use an alternate source of water until further sampling confirms that no further bacteriological contamination has occurred. The Village of Stratton is continuing to test the water and work with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Drinking Water Program, to protect the public health." Now, to me this sounds like the water has bacteriological contamination in it and we're suppose o boil the water to get the contamination out. I asked what bacteriological contamination it was, and they said that there wasn't any!! Then why does it state that we are to continue boiling the water until further samplings confirms that NO FURTHER bacteriological contamination has occurred? So anyways, still boiling water for drinking and cooking. There's a fire hydrant across the road that they are flushing the water through. Luckily all the water is standing on the other side of the road! ~Peace~ photo courtesy of pixabay

How awful. Good idea to continue boiling the water. My grandson has been out of school all week with a cold we thought was strep to begin with. Now his mom is sick too.
