I don't think we can fundamentally change who we are, but we can fake it for a little while just to impress our significant other. But the true us will eventually come out. But at the same time, if the will is there, and we have the proper motivations from our better half, we can become a better person. It just takes the right motivation and willingness.

No why should we? I mean when they are themselves then why should we change ourselves. I f they can change then giving back the change is worth. Not from only one sided change.
