Doctor Who (discussion and comments may contain spoilers): Opinions?

Any Whovians out there? I do get a little excited over a new Doctor Who episode. I wasn't sure what to expect from this one but was pleasantly surprised. From the trailers, I wasn't sure I'd like the new companion. I was, however, pleasantly surprised by Bill. I also loved the comic relief that was Nardole. I hope he's going to stick around. I think there was a good balance of introducing characters, establishing relationships, and a not-too-serious but serious enough 'monster' story. Some ideas had been used before but they weren't, as happens in some shows, exactly the same story but with a different character. I won't say much else about it here. What did you think of it? Also, do you know who's to replace Peter Capaldi? If you don't want to know, look away now.......... He's an English actor (not sure if he's (well) known in other countries). He's 44, although I think he looks younger! I think that's a good age to play the Doctor. Old enough that he doesn't look like a baby, young looking enough to appeal to 'Nuvians' who came onboard with David Tennant, and he's a good actor. I have seen him in British comedies 'My Family', 'Citizen Khan' and 'Death in Paradise'. His name, you may or may not recognise, is Kris Marshall. I think he'll make a good Doctor. Do you agree?

I think the vault may be the focal part of this season. Nardole; I didn't like him in the first Christmas special he appeared in but I liked him better in the second and in this. Even if he looks like a giant creepy baby.

I think you're right about the vault. I'm sure they wouldn't have made a point about it without delving into it, if there's not going to be more to it. Have you seen Matt Lucas (Nardole) in a (very silly) 90s comedy gameshow Shooting Stars? He actually dresses like a baby in that.

@pumpkinjam @egdcltd He also plays Tweedledum and Tweedledee in the Disney adaptations of Alice in Wonderland, with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and the voice of the late Alan Rickman as Absalom, among others.

It's on BBC1 in the UK. So if you can get any BBC channels or BBC iPlayer, you can watch it on those. I'm not sure about others.

Yes, I would prefer to watch such serials, but frankly my time factor does not allow me to.

This is one reason we don't watch anything when it's actually on TV! Always on catch-up. Although, we do watch new Doctor Who episodes as soon as we can once they're out.
