A Different Perspective

Years ago, one of the mountain bike magazines suggested walking your favorite trails in order to see them from a different perspective. We needed a few things at our local Safeway, roughly 2 1/2 miles down the road. Since we are in the 70's, temperature-wise, I walked instead of taking the bus. Usually, I take a straight shot, but since there are like a thousand construction zones between here and there, I used the bike path that I ride to get back into Manitou. This is Fountain Creek, which runs through the middle of Manitou Springs. Today was the first time I'd ever noticed the scene in the photo, because I'm usually on the bridge on my bike. This afternoon, because I was walking, I just happened to use a pedestrian bridge. Like the magazine said, a different perspective.

I love the stone and brick bridges that you see in some countries. Great Britain and Ireland have some wonderful bridges.

This bridge is probably fairly old, but nowhere near as old as bridges found in Europe. It can't be. Still pretty, though.

@teamfreak16 I love the arches they build into them.

@JudyEv - I love it. The strength of the bridge. Still perplexing to me how that works.

I'm all for it. I frequently walk and ride the trails around here. You do notice different things depending on your mode of transport. That is a spot I'd be happy to have my sarnie's at during the mid-ride break

I never stop there because It's only a half mile from home. It would make a great rest point, though.

@teamfreak16 It is a bit close to home, but would be a relaxing stop

And to think, riding a bike instead of driving a car gives you a different perspective to begin with!

It definitely does. When I ride downtown I always see it in a different way than when I used to drive.

I know, and I might never have noticed it if I hadn't been walking.

I like that scene. Any wildlife in the water like fish or turtles?

I don't think so. I do see ducks occasionally, further upstream, but that's all I've seen.

It is amazing how changing your mode of transport, or as in this case walking, can allow you to see things you'd not noticed before. That's a lovely view.

It is. If I had been on my bike as I usually am, I still probably wouldn't have noticed it.
