Having one's fruit garden seems a great idea but when it comes to the work one has to do one gets tempted to think twice.
Take for example the mango season. Once the mangoes mature we have to look for someone who can pluck them. Supervise their activity. They could be quite careless and drop them. Once a mango drops it will rot by the time it ripens.
The plucked mangoes are weighed, some sold, some distributed to neigbours, friends and family. The remaining are kept for ripening. Every day they need to be checked. They are wrapped in paper. Each of them has to be unwrapped. This goes on for a few days.
I have been doing this every day.(our maid is on leave
) There are a few that are fully ripe and they are now stored in the fridge.
Eating them is the most exciting part but when one looks at the struggle involved I wonder if it is worth going through it all. On second thought I think it is worth as nothing like a home grown mango
.
Our fridge is loaded now. What fruits do you have?

Even I prefer them straight from the tree but as you said we need to store them.
