The Comfort Of Other People ( A Woman's Discussion)

I'm sure that most of us have had children. We, as women have had the occasion to breast feed our babies when out and about. I never had to when out anywhere but, perhaps some of you have. Did you cover up or just let it all hang out?
There was a story on the national news this evening about a lady that was a pool and was breastfeeding her baby. She was asked by two different life guards to cover herself. I have to agree. Why can't she cover herself when out in public? Sure she is feeding her baby but doesn't she have any modesty? When she is home in her own environment she can let it all hang out but not when out in public. That is my opinion.
I think it goes beyond 'the comfort of others' too. I just think it is the right thing to do. If you are going to breastfeed your baby out in public you need to have some modesty and cover up a bit. This woman on the news said she refused because it was too hot for her baby. There are light cotton diapers or blankets she could use. Or, she could use a breast pump and have mother's milk in a bottle for such occasions. I think it is rather ignorant on her part to just do it out there in a public place.
What are your thoughts on this issue?

I was very discreet about it. No one would even notice me. I've been to watch high school base ball games. Everyone was watching what was going on beyond the fence and not on me.

I think that she should have been discreet and covered up a bit.

I so agree. She is at a pool where there are many young kids that do not need to see such things. The life guards were just trying to get her to be modest about her feeding.

Yes I fell all decency has gone out the window with that malarchy friend.
No need to let it all hang out like that.
Just my opinion too.

@TiarasOceanView ....But she feels she is justified not to have to cover the baby because it was hot. I say there are light weight blankets or even a diaper to use to lay over the area.

I'm sure I even covered up when in my own home. But, we run our business out of the house and you don't know who might be coming in out of the blue. I'd never be in public and bare it all and I don't understand those that have no problem with that.

I think its just respecting ourselves and the public, But I am wondering why a new mother was at the pool anyways, what comes to mind is a sunburned baby.

I think she had other kids. You'd think she would want to cover the baby from sun if for no other reason.

Agreed. She should have covered up when she was in the pool. She might be comfortable with everyone else looking but others might not be comfortable looking at that.

I think her attitude is it is all about her. Very self serving person. Maybe she likes the attention too.
