My first time meeting someone from online

When I was about 16 I had met someone named Dean online. He said he was 17 or 18, and lived about 45minutes away. And we had some things in common, so it was easy to talk for hours every day.. Well, one day he wanted to come meet up. I told him I wasn't sure about it but he said that he really wanted to meet and hug the girl he "loved". So I told him the area I lived, without giving my actual address, and he came a few days later. But I was smart and had one of my friends who was two years older than me come with me to meet him. Which he didnt like. Cause he apparently expected to have sex while he was here. Lol. But we got in his car, and headed two minutes down the road to Mc.Donalds. That was so awkward. Then we sat there and ate.. kinda. I was too nervous to eat. We talked a little, and he mentioned that he was actually like 21. But was afraid to tell me.. Pissed off and grossed out he took us back where he dropped us off (thankfully), and we waited for him to drive far away before heading towards my place. My friend and i laughed at how mad he seemed, and just how weird he was in person. Then just continued on with as if it was a normal night of hanging out. The days passed and i never heard from him again. But.. my friend did. As he hit her up on the site i meet him on and thought he could get with her. She laughed and blocked him. Then we found out that he lied about so much more, and had been arrested for being with underaged girls. Ugh. In the end I wish I never talked to him and obviously never met up with him but it was a good laugh for us. And also a good lesson learned on meeting people from online. Although.. it wasn't that good of a lesson since i met my now fiance from a cellphone chatsite. Lol. Have you ever meet someone from online? If so, was it a good or bad experience?

I have. Nothing scary like you but just a learning experience in that getting along well online or over the phone doesn't necessarily translate to in person.

@Courtlynn You women have to be extra special careful but it can be dangerous for guys also. It's sort of like a blind date.

that is quite scary.. i'm glad you were smart about it I have chatted with a few people online and most of them just wanted to do it - which is just sad here i am trying to find a friend online and they just want to get in a girl's pants - i'd never meet them in person though

My husband and I met in an AOL chatroom 13 years ago. It worked for us but I am very aware I took a big risk and it doesn't work for everyone. I thank God I did meet him-he;s my soul mate and today makes 12 years of marriage!

@Courtlynn We also talked for about a month online and through the phone. He moved up to NC where I was at living the time and we lived together from day one. He had everything he owned with him and never looked back. After a month of living together he proposed, I said yes. We got pregnant a few months later. Then got married less than a year after meeting. =)

Thats awesome! Definitely couldve been bad, but glad it was good for you.. how long did you guys wait after talking online before meeting in person? I met my now boyfriend, on a mobile phone chat room almost 7 years ago. We talked for 1.5 months before he came to meet in person.

I mean technically, that could end up bad too. As a guy could pretend to be a woman.. but glad you've meet real women friends and not men pretending.

I can't say that I have ever met people from online like that. That was kind of a scary situation you were in. Good thing your friend came with you.

it sounds like he does it on purpose, giving a younger age, so he can hook under-aged girls. i'm glad he was eventually caught.
