So, about 15 miles away from me is the town of Gilman, MN. Even though Gilman is less than 300 people - it is a hoppin' little place. Gilman features a huge farm and home store, several cafes, a bar, Church, autobody and bank. The tiny town has a local celebration every summer and the people seem hardworking and nice. Gilman- my hat is off to you.
*Gilman also features the Quonset converted into gas station that I mentioned earlier.

@FayeHazel I have found that many small towns have held onto life by going the tourist of restoring downtown areas with shops and eateries.

So true. Kind of makes me sad. I like to see the few small towns that are still thriving.

Can be nice, though - nicer if you know people already... sounds like you may enjoy country living?

It's pretty tiny little town. Haven't been to any farms there - though there is a huge farm and home store there. I've been in that.

@FayeHazel There is a little town down the road that is like that. Although so small they are really innovative and have all sorts of events designed at drawing tourists to their town.

It's surprisingly busy for being such a small town. That's pretty cool - I'm about 1 hr. East of Minneapolis. Small world. :-)
