After the unexpected late hail-stone shower yesterday, the weather returned to warm today. This was good as I had to go out early to attend a jobs fair on the orders of my welfare advisor, who was present to make sure those he sent along turned up.
The jobs on offer were within the National Health Service but after queuing up for some time I found that none were practical for me given their hours and the distances to be travelled other than possibly some voluntary counselling roles but I’m already doing lots of voluntary work.
The Welfare team insisted that myself and their other charge use the computers in their office to apply for jobs seen offered there, but wouldn’t let me print out details of job seen. I e-mailed them to myself to print at my next port of call, the job club. I did more job searching there without welfare watchdogs breathing down my neck.
An agency rang me on my mobile saying they might have some work for me, but insisted that before they gave me details I had to send them copies of my bank detail, passport and birth certificate. I refused to co-operate until they told me who they are as I had no plan to support an act of potential identity theft. They hung up on me.
I arrived home to a lovely surprise. I was a runner up in a word-search competition run by Marvel comics back in 1973. I won a toy car. I was then eleven. My copy of the comic listing me among the winners had long since been thrown out but my friend kindly posted me a copy of it in mint condition. It arrived today. This time it will be cherished.

I can't believe that the agency hung up on you. Nowadays there are so many scams so it is always worth checking. I love marvel movies so much. Always eager waiting for the releases of those movies. I do believe that the comics are better than the movies

That's so sweet about the comic with your name printed in it. How thoughtful. And how ridiculous about the benefits folk. Such jobsworths ... *sigh*

1973 was also about the same time they were showing the Hulk and other Marvel super heroes here on our black and white T.V. Awesome surprise you got there, so do you plan to have it framed? Hang and displayed?
