Interacting on my last post titled "I will finish it first" my friend @Nawsheen wrote "....the kind of boss you have makes a difference."
I agree.My boss has many qualities.He is a hard taskmaster and a strict disciplinarion.He is punctual and expects us to be punctual. Without a solI'd reason you can't make him grant you leave.
But these qualities are not unique.Most bosses have them.
The one unique quality he has is if he wants us to do something extra, something other than our own job, he does not give us order.Instead, he very politely requests us to help him.Recently when he wanted me to finish works left by a couple of my colleagues who were suffering from fever, he came to me and said, "Jai, would you please do it?"
I could not refuse.

My boss is the kind of boss who always like to follow procedures. If you decide not to follow procedures then he will for sure not be pleased with you. I would like to say that my boss made me become more disciplined and responsible. I also try to find a common ground and get along with his personality. My boss may take his work very seriously but very often he rewards us for the targets achieved.

@Nawsheen LOL!!
My boss is like yours.A strict disciplinarian and one who keenly follows procedures.The only difference between yours and mine is that my boss does not get angry so soon.If you ignore procedures, he would warn you once or twice,and that too smilingly.If you take his smile lightly and keep ignoring procedures, you do so at your own risk.

A straightforward and direct request is much better than side talking. Clear and concise, very good boss.

@TiarasOceanView You are absolutely right.My boss never resorts to side talking.He would request you directly and if you are unable to oblige him,he would expect you to tell him so citing reasons to justify yourself.Once he gets satisfied, he would smile sweetly and with a convincing pat on your back say just three words,Okay,don't worry.And would move to someone else in the office with the same request.
