The photo shows the main venue at the Fairbridge Music Festival which we attended recently. On stage is a group Called Himmerland. From memory, two of the front-liners are from Denmark (the country, not the West Australian town) and one from Sweden. The drummer was West African I'd say. He was extremely energetic, dancing and tumbling back and forth across the back of the stage if he wasn't actually drumming. He was incredible to watch. It might sound unkind but he reminded me of a monkey let loose and stealing the show in the background. The first time we saw Himmerland, the girl looked like she should still be at school – quite petite in black tights and a red tunic - but it was soon obvious she was the 'glue' in the group. She sang and played a very mean fiddle. The next day she and the guitarist were in a 'conversation' with an excellent interviewer and we learnt that the two were husband and wife. They had two children, she had a Masters degree from Ireland and their career had reached a stage where they had been able to give up teaching music. They could pick and choose their gigs a bit more and travelled with a nanny for the children. So much for a school-girl! Have you ever been totally wrong about someone?

It didn't help that all the other performers, bar the drummer, were all much taller than her.

@TiarasOceanView That's true. I think she'd have a crick in her neck from looking up all the time.

I hope you enjoy the group. They're good but the 45 minute session was long enough for us at the time.

@JudyEv - Oh, my! That looks like such a wonderful performance! Yes, I often misjudge the age of people. Some people just don't look their age! LOL

@JudyEv - I agree. It can be very hard to guess the age of many young women.

Young women are the hardest to judge. They can look so young.

I like the trippy colors in the photos. Psychedelic effect.

I had a look at the you tube video of them at the Port Fairy folk festival, and I could see what you meant about the energetic drummer! I could also see that the young lady at the front did indeed seem to be the glue. The music seemed to be a fusion of folk and jazz.

Some of these genres are very hard to label. 'Fusion' is a helpful word for many of these groups.

Nice photo of the lighting. It sounds like a great show and band. I know.. some of the local cover bands around here feature teeny tiny little female vocalists. Like being itty bitty were central to being a singer... in some cases they do have talent, and in some cases.... no. At least in this case sounds like she has talent, too
