Did you know that Ian Fleming, famous author of the James Bond spy stories, also wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. He wrote 12 Bond novels and 2 short stories. During World War II he was a director to Britain's naval intelligence which provided ideas for his Bond novels. He also wrote several non-fiction books. The New York Times said that Bond added all the secret agents he met during the war to make up the Bond character. That Bond was braver and handsomer than he was. He wrote his first Bond caper in 1953 yet the first Bond film didn't come out until 1962. In the first film Bond was played by Sean Connery who went on to play that part six more times. Fiver other actors played him in the two dozen EON Productions films that came after. They were George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. Ian Fleming died on August 12, 1964 of a heart attack. After his death several other authors were commissioned to write Bond novels. He had a home in Jamaica he named Goldeneye.
