But What About My "Real World Connections"?

Found this comment in my Facebook memories. I talk to myself a lot. Facebook simply made it easier for me to type out the conversations. Since these are my words/thoughts, I give myself permission to repeat myself. * * * Facebook Warning RE: Friend Requests: "Remember that you should only send friend requests to people you have a real-world connection with, like friends, family, classmates and coworkers and people you know personally." ONLY?? Uh huh. OK! Here's my reality check. If I want to talk to my family, I'll talk to them. I don't really want to connect with classmates or coworkers. I work from home and my friends are people I have met through Facebook. Maybe FB doesn't consider them real-world connections. But they're real to me and they have been very nice to me!! Back in the day when people used to have pen pals ... Zzzzz ... (Yawn.) ... ... I'm boring myself. Never mind. It's about 500 folks in my network. I'm satisfied with that. Moving on! That was 2013. As of 2017, I have close to a thousand people in my FB network. About once or twice I do some “spring cleaning” because there are people who have latched on to me and I don't know who they are!

I've been bored lately on Facebook and rarely visit, except to get photos of my grandkids. I'd rather be here.

I go through my Facebook memories because I get rid of bad links that no longer exists and get ideas on producing new blog content. Most of my family is right here with me so I don't really need it for photos and pictures of family. But it does have a nice photo or image sharing feature. MyLot is much better for real lively conversation.

@cmoneyspinner I think of my friends here as real-world connections too.It doesn't matter if I know them personally or what they are like,we can spiritually communicate with each other .

Yes. By the Facebook definition they wouldn't be. But myLot is another site where I consider all my friends to be "real-world connections" though I have never met any of you face-to-face. There is not one person here that I have actually physically met. But I'm honored to be among you. The Internet truly opened up a "whole new world, a new fantastic point of view". It's way better than being in Jasmine and Aladdin's fictional world.
This is probably the most recognizable Disney Masterpiece moment, outside Once upone a star. A Whole New World not only takes it's place in animation history...

I have no FB account but I do get about being in touch with friends and family in the real world. Yes, social media makes it easier to talk with each other but has it improved relationships at all?

@cmoneyspinner seems like it is an ideal setup for both of you.

My husband thinks it's useless and wishes social media was never invented. I disagree with him. But we don't argue about it. I use it. He ignores it.

That's a lot of friends. I hardly use FB, so never request or accept friends there. However, I have a lot of friends on this site and I consider them 'real'

Feel the same way. MyLot definitely has "real" people.

You can probably do without the ones who have 'latched on'.
