Today is my scheduled day for washing our clothes. Our laundrywoman has not yet returned home from vacation. I am here every now and then because of my chores at home, and thankfully, I did my notifications- it is zero now. Then lunch; I asked my sister if I can open a can each of peaches and pears for our dessert. She agreed, so I took the 2 cans and refrigerated them. After lunch, my son opened the 2 cans and poured the contents in a bowl. Tired as I was, I had a good appetite for lunch, followed with the fruits as dessert. We have fresh bananas, but I ate a piece for breakfast. The pears and peaches taste great. Although canned, the fruits are good sources of vitamin C. The canned fruits are products of Tesco. How about you, my friends? Do you also take fruits for dessert?

fruits give us vitamins and minerals. for breakfast, i suppose you have an apple or a banana, right? fruits also give us electrolytes, like the water melon, which should be abundant this summer.

@ridingbet I almost never eat bananas, I like apples, peaches, apricots and berries. It's too early for melons here, we have them in summer. I think next months they will start to be on the shelves.

@LadyDuck i do believe in that saying that "an apple a day, keeps the doctor away", and not just an apple, but other fruits as well

Fruits are definitely important. I usually vary the types of fruits i take daily. My favorite are oranges, pears, peach and prunes

@ridingbet in fact we have to buy them. All the fruits I mentioned above are imported

that is good for you because you have fresh fruits like the ones you mentioned here. pears, peaches, prunes, and even oranges are seldom grown here in my region.

Yes, it's always most of the time fruits for us. Indian mangoes abound at the vacant lots that surrounds our house, the owners of which doesn't even show even once a year. So whenever I arrive home from work, I see a mountain of Indian mangoes. My hubby picked them up through a panungkit. He would pare some and have a bottled "alamang" as dip. I supposed those canned pears and peaches are from your brothers abroad?

I eat fruits whenever I see one in the house no matter what time, sometimes fruit peddlers pass by and wife buys or I go up our tree house to look if there are ripe mangoes. Your cold canned pech looks very tempting

@ridingbet that peach is a little bit expensive because it is imported, we also do that with canned pineapple and sweet corn.. The carabao mango has commercial value, ours is the " supsupin" small but very very sweet, our neighbor has Indian mango that they can no longer consume so they give some to us very often.

the dessert was consumed immediately. hahah! so sad too, that the big old mango tree right in front of our house is already gone. the fruits of this 'carabao mango' tree are so sweet, and big.

@louievill haha! yes the canned goods of peaches and pears are expensive, PhP money-wise, but my big brother from UK sends us in packs, because these are on sale there.

We only eat fresh fruits, but only for snacks. We never have room for dessert unless we go out. I usually pass. Glad you enjoyed your dessert.

@ridingbet I'm sorry your avocado tree was uprooted. At least it's coming back.

yes my friend. well, fresh fruits here are not already considered fresh, unless the fruits are from our own backyard. the avocado trees we had were already uprooted by the typhoon Lawin last year, and now, the tree is growing more branches and leaves, but it will take a longer time for it to bear fruits.

@DianneN yes my friend. only one is surviving. the other one with smaller fruits is growing but we are killing it now, because the roots are reaching the edge of the septic tank.

the preservatives put in the canned fruits are syrup but natural juice from the fruits. the preservatives do make the fruits edible despite the many months being inside the tin can.

It's perfect as far as I'm concerned. A lot healthier than something sugar laden which I reserve for weekends lol!!

indeed, cakes are sugar-laden. cakes as desserts are good also when we need to have more glucose in our system. but of course, the diabetic people should consider taking a measured amount of sweets like cakes for desserts.

Our kids had fresh farm picked strawberries. I have started planting things for us to eat and save. We have cucumber, tomato, watermelon, strawberry and bell pepper. It's not much but it's a start for this yr.

cucumber, tomato, and red bell pepper can already make a vegetable salad as appetizer. the water melon, well, i can just eat a slice of that especially when chilled, and sprinkled with salt.
