Power off from 6AM to 6 PM.

It is really so disheartening to be on power outage for 12 hours tomorrow. Yes, we will have a 12-hour power interruption starting from 6AM up to 6PM, and adding to this, it will be so hot at high noon. That is why I hope for some dark clouds and rain tomorrow. Our place is noted to have the hottest temperature in our country. As such, I must always be hydrated, and out of the sweltering heat of the sun. That is why also, we are placing many bottles of water in the freezer, so we can drink ice cold water tomorrow. It will be quiet tomorrow; television units will not be opened, and only the horns of the vehicles passing by will be the only noise (and the shouting of our neighbor). I hope it will not be too hot tomorrow. So to you my friends, I won’t be here from 6AM to 6PM. Have a great Friday.

Brownouts are quite often this past few days but it was not that long. It's difficult to have it in summer time when we need electric fans to cool us.

@averygirl72 these mini-electric fan similar to the big ones cost about PhP200 here after typhoon Lawin devastated us. but we bought the hand fans and that was good.

Is this yesterday of today? Yesterday, the whole province of Abra including some parts of Ilocos Sur suffered blackout from 6AM to 6PM. The National Grid Corporation announced the power interruption but this didn't stop the consumers to feel irritated of long blackout.

Wow, that sucks. to have a power outage in the summer. We don't have scheduled power outages.. in fact the power rarely goes here at my house.. I think we lose it at work more often. I have had one big outage that lasted many many hours once at my house. it was due to an accident 2 blocks away and the person hit a utility pole. I don't like losing power for that long as the food in the refrigerator can go bad.

that is true, but the food in the fridge can still hold its coldness for sevarl hours, but the hotness of the house is bad. that is why i have my red fan to cool me down. if only our power interruption is only 30 minutes duration, that is good.

That's too bad to hear, kabsat. You need to have halo-halo. I hope I can lend you my generator.

@ridingbet That's great. I don't know if I can live in hot weather. When I was in Tajikistan, the Summer season is so terrible. I need to put ice in a bath tub everyday.

haha! we have our generator, kabsat. actually, my son put it on yesterday when we had our lunch. halo-halo, in an instant, was consumed at the store. we contented ourselves with the hand fans and cold water.

Oh my goodness, a 12 hours power interruption is a serious problem. What will you do with your refrigerator? Can he stay cold for 12 hours?

@ridingbet According to the manufacturer it's safe to keep food in our refrigerator up to 24 hours in case of power down.

luckily, the fridge, since it was not defrosted yet, gave us chilled water. the ice thawed though in the afternoon, so when the electricity came back at 6PM, my sister cleaned the fridge.

That is definitely a long time for a power outage. Hopefully it doesn't last all that long.

We call it load shedding and it is a regular feature here when power goes off for a few hours at a time and sometimes even for 12 hours at a stretch. We have a home UPS that takes care of our pc, tv, fans and lights. Fridges can tolerate 12 hours of no current.

It happens here as well, especially in summer. does it happen only in Asian countries?

maybe, because we don't have stable electricity.

I've been drinking a lot of water long before summer hit. But that even wasn't enough so I also resort to drinking cold tea or fruit juice. I hate the brown out, it forces me to sleep with out even taking a bath or dump. only to wait for it to have the power back on.

Why such a long outage? That seems so unreasonable on such a hot day. Is it to repair the power or limit use of energy?

there is what they call, preventive maintenance my friend. i also think the water in the dam is at its critical level and it can not generate power;hence, some areas have 12 hours or power outage.

It is good at least that you have been warned and can therefore make preparations. I hate it when power outages happen with no warning.
