Do you like scary movies?

I just watched Get Out and really enjoyed it. It had been a while since I had seen a horror movie, even though I usually really enjoy those. I used to be scared of horror movies, but I've always been rather drawn to them as well. I enjoy both modern and classic horror. Alfred Hitchcock, for example, also known as the master of suspense, has created some true gems. Do you enjoy horror movies? Why (not)? Feel free to mention some of your favourites!

Yes and no. My definition of a "scary movie" is a Hitchcock film, not these "slasher" blood and gore things they do today.

You have non-slasher/gore horrors today as well, but I can see why you would prefer the classic ones.

To tell you the truth, I dislike scary movies. Do not like to scare myself at all.

I think I've become more desensitised by them, I don't get scared that easily anymore. But I definitely understand people who don't like them because they don't like to get scared.

I've never watched horror films and don't intend to do so. They'd horrify me and I can't see why I should enjoy that.

Yes, I don't like all of them either, but I definitely enjoy the genre as a whole.

No when we were kids we were at a friends house looking through her parents movie collection and found Nightmare on Elm Street and her older sister dared us to watch it. I think I had nightmares for at least a week so I've avoided horror movies ever since.

I imagine that must have been quite a scary movie to watch as a child.

@maclanis I definitely wouldn't recommend it! Lol I kept dreaming about Freddy Krueger who let's face it isn't exactly a pretty face to see in your dreams. I'd wake up terrified and run to put the lights on. I couldn't even tell my parents why I was having nightmares as they'd go mad that we had watched an 18 horror movie at 9 years old.

Horror movies are fine for me because I like to challenge myself. However, I found not many horror movies are really scary enough.

I love scary and suspense movies, that I consider very different from horror movies, that are often third class movies. Those directed by Hitchcock never were horror movies.
