Prom Night Music War

It's prom night here in Manitou. I know this because of all the teenagers walking downtown I saw as I was walking back from the liquor store, dressed in prom wear. A music war is a game my girlfriend and I play where we, with wildly different tastes, play music for each other. Eventually, one of us wins, usually by playing something unexpected or out of character. Her sample: "My Heart will Go On" by Celine Dion," "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion, "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston, "My Way" by Sid Vicious, "Sounds of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel. My sample: "I Really Want to Know You"by Gary Wright, "Hold Your Head Up" by Argent, "Kooler than Jesus" by My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, "My Precognitive" by Bobby Brown, "Das Omen" by Mysterious Art. Oddly, she stayed away from her usual dose of modern country, she even played Alanis Morrisette at one point. Meanwhile, as usual, I was all over the place. We were at an impasse. She tried "Be True to Your School "by The Beach Boys, I tried "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Eventually, she pulled "Blue Monday" by New Order out. Had it been me, it would have been just another song. For her, it was so far out of character that I couldn't top it. How she remembered it, I have no idea, but she won. Again.
