The Bohemian Grove

I don't recall where I heard of this group but I am always curious and did some research and thought others might be interested in this as well. Bohemian Grove is a private club whose regular meeting place is located on a 2700 tract of land in Monte Rio, California about seventy five miles north of San Francisco on a avenue of the same name. This area is privately owned by a San Francisco based men's club. Each year in july this place hosts a private encampment of the members of this rich man's group. Several journalists have snuck onto the privately owned area to both check goings on at this special time in July when they all meet there for what is called an "encampment" and see about timber cutting activity. This elite club is open to only rich and affluent right winged republican types and is extremely hard to get into. The club has the reputation of secret goings ons and even ceremonies like the druids of old, and even the Klu Klux Klan. And though it has this reputation it seems to just be a drunken get together of the richy rich. Mark Twain, Jack London, Kissinger, Rockefellers, Bushes, Nixon, Morgans and C.E.O.'s of top companies across the nation all are said to be members of this secret group. There is a waiting list because there can only allowed to be 2700 members at one time. The members are assigned to different camps within the club such as Mandalay, Hill Billies and Cave Man. This group seems to have been going on for atleast 100 years with alot of the interest in it having to do with the acres of giant redwoods that cover the area used for these annual encampments and possible logging. And rumors of drunken members relieving themselves on the trunks of these trees adds to the mystery. What does go on here and does it include notorious underhanded idiocy or just some drunk rich guys coming together for some male bonding?
